Its awesome! Very smooth with the belt drive, and tons of torque. The pedals are very solid too, all metal construction. I ended up getting it brand new for a crazy deal, but I think it is worth the money even for its normal price. So the anti-productivity of iRacing strikes again! Dan came over on Friday with a bunch of metal with the intention to fabricate another seat/wheel mount for himself... we never even ended up taking the metal out of the box ![]() |

So I managed to ignore iRacing for a couple weeks and get my FD back together.
Rebuilt the motor using new (to me) good shape rotor housings, new Hurley 3mm seals (same as what was in there before, had an extra set), all new hard and soft seals and pressed in all new bearings. If money were no object I would have lapped and re-nitrided the irons (or replaced), got new rotors with 2mm seals, and new or resurfaced rotor housings. However, I was on a budget for this as most of my money is going to paying for a wedding this year. All said and done, the rebuild cost me $570 and some favors. Here is a time-lapse of the build, GoPro ran out of batteries just as I was closing it up. You will notice I pulled the rear rotor back out... corner seal was not lining up :-/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9juMST0d6Cg The car has been on the road for a little over a week now. I have been driving it as much as I can, put about 200 miles on it so far. All seems great with the new motor. I could not help myself over the weekend... I had to try out E85 and my new Flex Fuel sensor ![]() I had just over 1/4 tank of 93 when I filled up with E85. I keyed on a couple times to let the pump prime so I could verify the sensor was working. Stabilized at 59% ethanol. I copied my 93 map over to the E85 map and did a global 30% increase. I made the blend table linear from 10% to 85%. Fired it up and drove it home. I'm seriously impressed with this setup and love that I can now add any mixture of the two fuels. The tune was basically spot on after making a few minor global changes to the map to make the air fuel values match. Once I have more miles on the motor I will tune for the full E85. I'm using Klotz Benol now that I am using E-85. However I will only use that when I plan on filling with any concentration of ethanol as its quite a bit more expensive than normal premix. That said, I still use the OMP. |
