Default Thinking about some mods...

Well Christmas has given me some money with instructions to do something fun with it. So I am thinking about a Greddy Profec B Spec 2, Fighters Garage intake, and Fighters Garage toe links.

I am trying to talk my self into doing these mods. Does anyone have any experience with them? Will the intake give me trouble with smog?

Greddy Profec is a pretty nice BC; kinda confusing to set - but good results.

I have it and recommend it.

Yeah I've been kicking the idea around for a while. Since I seem to over boost from time to time it would be nice to not have to watch the boost gauge when I got WOT

Hmmm, I believe if you are overboosting and you are not changing the wastegate spring....Then the Boost Controller won't help your overboost. Alll the BC does it control when the wastagate is exposed to the signal boost reference so if it has a 10psi wastegate and a 15psi boost goal, the BC will not allow the boost signal reference to reach the wastegate until you reach 15psi. But the lowest boost pressure it can achieve is to allow the wastegate to see the signal the whole time....the same as having no boost controller at all

^ This is correct.

Unless you are switching from a MBC to an EBC; then this would be a good modification to buy.

Let me re-word what is happening to make sure we are talking about the same thing. It usually happens in 4th gear at highway speeds, it will go up to like 14psi, and if I keep my foot in it, it will drop down to about 11psi.

And you want to keep it at 14 PSI right? BTW - that is not called spiking/overboost (assuming you want 14 PSI) - that is boost fall off.

If that is the case; then a BC is for you.

I guess I should have said that my car is 94 rx7 with a downpipe. I am trying to stay at the stock boost level of 10psi.

Ahhhh - now the problems start to come out - the second turbo is spooling too fast for the stock PCM settings.

Assuming all of your wastegate lines are stock and working correctly; an Apexi PFC or the like is going to work way better than a BC. A BC cannot take anything away - only add.

Sorry man.

Really?? I was under the impression that it took over the waste gate control, so that you could change their function. I've seen people who have set them up to run 8psi on the stock twins. Now I am thoroughly confused.

I am not an expert by any means; I have only removed 'em on the FD myself.

I know you can set them to run parallel; and it stands to reason you could sever all of the solenoids that control the wastegate and plumb it all through the BC... I am just not exactly sure how to do it wihtout running them in parallel.

To add - I found this wicked vacuum hose diagram when I did the single turbo swap (on RX7 club I believe) - we made it poster sized and laminated it - I don't have it any more - but that kind of thing would really help you get your set-up correct.

Well I have talked my self out of the toe links. I am still thinking about the intake and the boost controller. I am tempted by the 99 spec wing, but I don't know if I could swing to buy it, paint it and have it installed.
Doesn't it look sooo nice with on montego blue.
