i didn't realize there was a tall and short. i guess i'm just used to seeing the tall ones, which i guess i'd prefer. i'm going to need a 4-port, 2 actually (old school 13B and 13B-T bolt patterns) when the time comes.

i was just curious because i check Ebay and Craigslist every so often for them and NEVER find one... anywhere. only place i've seen them new is Mazdatrix and true to form, since i kept waiting (until it was more convenient) the price went up about $70.
Thanks for the comments. I have been teaching myself to weld. Figured it would be cheaper than finding someone else to weld it all together

Thanks Robert, for the comment and the deal on the carb hat!!!!! I have to agree this one is looking alot sexier than my last build.

Few pics of what I have gotten done. But actual work has been taking alot of my time this week.

I started on building the exhaust, but I only had the turbo losely attached for mocking up everything else. I had to tighten it up and instead of doing it twice I figured I should finish the oil return and the braided lines. Then I could just tighten it up and consider that part of the build finished.

What have you done for the carb and how much boost do you plan to run on it?

I actually have the 13BT IDA manifold and top hat which I acquired years ago while doing an ITB setup and have been thinking about throwing some 48IDAs on it and dropping the setup into a first gen with a stock turbo but I'm still a bit unclear on webers since my carb experience is limited.

Carb hat, polyurethane float, mill out one of the walls inside the carb for more fuel capacity. 300 or better needle valve, new gaskets and drill in three spots for fuel flow and drivability.
I ran 8lbs normal, 10lbs racing on my last setup and plan the same for
This one.

Got some work done last night. Exhaust is almost complete, 4 more welds and add hangers.

easiest to answer with more pictures

I got the muffler and pre muffler from Parts Off in japan for 8000 yen. about 100.00 It's a Tanabe Hyper Medalion exhaust system for a Nissan Cedric. The Japanese stainless was 3" inside diameter and the stateside stainless mandrel bends are 3" outside diameter. So a chop saw and a tig welder its now for a 1st gen 12at RX7.

thanks Robert

I have been waiting on parts for the engine bay so I started working on the interior. When I got this shell the interior tar sound deadening had been removed. The only things inside the car were the dash, center console and the steering wheel.

I started with the seats. I had to modify a bride FC seat rail to work under my recaro seats. Installed the rotaryshack short shifter and the Nardi steering wheel. the 4 point roll bar is a tight fit. test fitted the pioneer DVD headunit. Since there is no space left in the engine bay I moved the battery to behind the passenger seat. Need a few grommets to complete that project.
