It's in the final stages. We bought it last December with 110K miles so we pulled the motor.. did a streetport , installed an ETS front mount, converted his interior to Black, installed 94 gauges and now he is gathering the items for a single conversion.. trying to beat the old man..

Very nice looking car. I'm sure you are, but just wanted to double check since it isn't in the picture... you are running an air filter on the turbo, right?

I would really really recommend going with an actual filter. I understand drag race guys needing every little extra bit they can get for a 1/4 or 1/8th at a time, but all the dirt and grim that gets into your engine through the screen is going to shorten your engine life.

Nice cars. I "used" to not run a air filter. Then when the engine came apart I saw first hand what the invisible grit in the air does to internals. Not good. Not to mention the turbo life will be shortened as well. Moral of the story, The few CFM's you lose with a air filter is not worth the thousands you'll spend to fix the issues caused by not haviing one.
Good luck, I would imagine your son is a very happy person. |

[QUOTE=RHDJapan;98280]nice work,
"great to see the matching pair between father and son." That was actually an accident... He sold his 240SX, which was his 1st car, to buy a 3rd gen once he rode with me to the local track. He was suppose to get a black one BUT it was beat up pretty bad. We then came across this one and got a good deal on it so we bought it with the money from the 240 and a little help from me and mom... ![]() |

Oh yeah... he is on cloud 9... ![]() The 1st day he drove it to school last year, he came out of class and found a large group around his car. He thought there was a fight going on BUT it was just everyone looking at the 3rd Gen. Him and his brother were riding high with all that attention... L8R |

2 suggestions. Definitely run a filter, dirt wears engines and turbos out so much faster, even if you can't see the dirt it's getting in there. One trip down a dirt road and your compression will drop. It's just not worth the engines life for very little gain in power.
Next replace the hose clamps on the boost pipes with T bar clamps, they hold up much better and can put a lot more force on them. I broke so many of the standard hose clamps when I was running my twins, boost pipes always popping off, no more issues with T bar clamps on the single turbo.

I am running a filter. It was sitting in the garage when I took the pics. The T-bolt clamps are on the way. The local performance shop didn't have enough to do my setup. I am running T-bolts on my 1st gen and know the issues of blowing clamps off.. I even blew a T-Bolt clamp off on the 1st gen But that animal is pushng 440 HP... L8R |
