Rebuilt OMP lines
2 and a half years ago my stock lines were found brittle and breaking when I pulled my engine. I decided to rebuild them myself with flexible teflon tubing. Still holding nicely I decided to add some details on how to do it.
I got the parts from http://www1.mscdirect.com/cgi/nnsrhm The Tubing:MSC # 48701031 I ordered around 6' and had some left over current price is $2.19 per ft. PFA tubing Characteristics • Excellent abrasion & temperature-resistance • Low coefficient of friction for ease of flow • UV & Gamma radiation stable, chemically inert • Thermally superior to most plastics • Outstanding chemical & electrical properties • Durometer=shore D 55±5 • Temperature range: -320°F to +500°F Ear clamps:MSC #: 48547962 Current price $.41ea should only need 4, but i ordered a few extra just in case. Type: 2-Ear Nominal Size: 1/4 Inner Width of Ear: 0.118 In. Thickness: 0.0276 In. Width: 0.236 In. Material: Stainless Steel You will need the banjo fittings from the old lines. I used a bench grinder to remove the clamps and carefully grind the plastic tubing off from the barbs. Once I had the banjo fittings I pushed the new tubing over the barb then put the clamps in place and crimped them down. Nice and tight. Install like stock. The benefits of these lines is they withstand more heat, are more flexible(easier to route), they don't wear on things like the braided steel lines, cost less then both stock and especially the braided lines. These are not my pics but same parts. Pics are from a second gen writeup by racer x8 that I found. ![]() ![]() ![]()
