RX8 Mazdaspeed Springs
I was trying to do some research, but couldn't find any details really on the Mazdaspeed springs except that they drop the car 20mm, which would be roughly .75". What I'm looking for are the spring rates and possibly some photos of cars with these installed.
My last 8 used JIC coilovers, which were actually pretty good and I was happy with that, but my goal on this 8 is to be more conservative and use as many "factory" upgrades as I can and keep it a normal daily driver with a weekend auto-x from time to time. Any details on these springs would be great! I'll probably throw some Koni's under the car too with them... |

Dont want to go the coilover route - used them on the last 8 and on the current FC.. great to race with, but overkill for the new daily 8.
I just want a good ride quality w/ a bumped up spring rate that wont destroy my orthodontic work! Do you know if they are linear or progressive? Its amazing how little information there is on these parts... |

mazdaspeed spring rates
Mazdaspeed front 280 rear 190 Although there have been people who said they measured them prior to install and the rate was actually lower.

comment from someone who used the mazdaspeed springs.
"Also be aware that if you go with the Mazdaspeeds, you HAVE to get the MS shocks. With the stock shocks the ride becomes lousy & unpredictable"

Damned - where did you find that info (if its the other forum - i wont tell).... thanks man!
280/190 actually sounds pretty good. The other ones I considered were the STech and Racing Beat. For comfort, RB would be the way to go, but I think I can deal w/ the 280 up front from MS.. |

When it says Stock 'Sport' rates for the RX8... were there different rates on different models like the FCs back in the day?
Getting the MS shocks wont be a big deal, although my original plan is to use Koni... |

Doesn't matter where it came from its here now, but yes there were a few sites that helped with the info.
From some reviews the racing beat may not be a bad choice either everyone seems pleased with them, but if you trying to stay "mazda" and can handle the front then shouldn't be a problem, only downs on them (and this is really for any aftermarket spring) is that you'll want to change out your shocks also but I think you were already planning to do that.

I believe so, I think a "sport suspension" was either an upgrade sorta speak or came on the "sport" model as I think the GT's came with a softer rate for comfort. Kinda like how the R1 FD's had a more sport orientated suspension setup and the Touring models had a more comfort orientated setup.

Ah - mine is a "sport" and my buddy has the "GT".. perhaps if he hasnt ditched his stockers we can find out.
And yea.. I plan on doing shocks w/ springs... have always been a fan of Koni or Tokico, but we'll see how funds are and if the MS shocks will be a valuable addition. Thanks for all the info. |

http://www.finishlineperformance.com...ction=0&page=2 looks to be around 650 or so for 2 front 2 rear shocks and then the set of springs.

Great INFO!!
WE3RX7, I'm in the same boat as you... Don't want something too agressive for a daily but something that I could use for track..
