Default Chris Carlisi Memorial BBQ & Cruise 2009 Pictures

Hello. I have been here for a while, but have not posted yet. i figured this would be a good one to start with.

This past weekend, one of our RX-7 peers held a Memorial BBQ, Meet and Cruise event with the help of several others. The event was to honor one of our fallen rotary enthusiasts. His name was Chris Carlisi. Chris was building what was shaping up to be one clean and mean 20b 3rd Gen RX-7. What none of us knew was that he had diabetes. Last Spring, Chris died in an accident caused by his diabetes. i, along with several others, knew him and talked to him often. He was a great man, full of passion and enthusiasm. It was a sad loss to the community and the world.

This year was the 2nd Memorial Event put on by Gordon Monsen. This years event brought in members from 16 states and 3 Canadian provinces, with some as far away as Texas and Florida. There were about 70 cars, with everything from clean street cars, to part time track cars, to full blown race cars. there were 4 20b powered cars; with Chris', David Hayes', Gordon Monsen's, and a gentleman from Canada. There were sponsors on hand to give products for raffles, the auction, or help with their products.

The community came together in a big way, and helped to raise a good amout for Juvenile Diabetes. The proceeds from the t-shirts and a portion of the auction went to it. It was a great cause, and everyone was more then willing to give. There will be another event in 2010, so i hope to see you all there! For real, no matter where you are, you need to be here next year. I will even offer up a place to stay and shotgun in my car for next year for you to be there. That is, of course, if you can take 4.5 hours one way without air conditioning, no radio, in a race bucket with racing harnesses. the offer stands until it's filled

Special thanks to Gordon and his wife Suky, Ron and Judy Carlisi for bringing their son's beautiful car out and having such a great son that brought us all together, Rich and the Farrels for helping out, all of the volunteers that kept the day running, the sponsors that brought their cars and gear out, and everyone that showed up to the event. The cars were great, but took second place to the camaraderie and the spirit there that day. It was really something to see that made me very proud to be apart of the community.

again, i implore you all to try to be here next August. It's amazing to think that it could get any better, but it will be better next year. Enjoy!

yeah.. Next year for sure.. unless something else happens

This year, I had to be in town... I actually told Rich that I was going to fly in and then when I was looking for flights, my wife told me, "Ahhh, you know you have to watch the dog as I'm on call right??... And don't you have a photoshoot that weekend?".. That's when I said, "SHIT!!"

yea, i saw that post on the other forum, and i was gonna contact you for pick up. wasn't sure it fell through. I think they raffled off the t-shirts that you donated. if you have any spare larges hanging around, i'll have to pick one up along with an RCC shirt and decals.

did you have a photoshoot with one of the many beautiful cars you own? if you have rights to the photos, please direct me to them when you post them up.
