renesis center iron

is there any difference between the 4 port (auto) and 6 port (manual) center iron on the renesis? or is it only the end plates?

i know they have a different part numbers, but i have seen parts that are the exact same and have different part numbers.

Yes, the ports are different. The four port automatic plate with have one opening for the intake and one for the exhaust (hence, four port). The manual, six port model will have two openings for the intake and one for the exhaust. The way the ports work in a rotary is you have the openings on both sides of the rotor that are timed to release the intake charge at the same time, and expel the exhaust from both the end plate and the center plate at the same time as well.

This is just my assumption based on what the inside of traditional 13B's and 12A's look like. I have never tore down a Renesis, but I couldn't imagine the concept being different for the intake, as the only concept changed to my knowledge has been moving the exhaust ports onto the irons as well.

ummm... your a little confused. this is the CENTER iron as posted in the name of the thread. no matter what model rotarys it was. the center iron had no more than one intake port per side. all the addition 6 port openings are on the end plates.

I also have pretty much answered my own question by checking for myself. i put the 4 port gasket on the 6 port and they matched up perfectly. Also, i then put the 4 port and 6 port next to each other and tryed to find a difference. i could not find anything signifigant.

wich makes sence. since you cant really tell the difference between older 13b center irons either when comparing the 6 port to the 4 port. (not including RE and REW, just TII and NA 6 port)
