Default Paint!

for my FIRST post, i will very much attack you with an ass load of pictures!
the end of last year, i acquired a sport with a blown motor that sc0rp7 didnt
have time to fix because of career training. It had been painted twice
already, once the factory royal maroon, then a color I liked to call "grimace purple metallic",
both i suspect were maaco jobs, because the prep work was SO BAD...
anyway, I loaded it up, dragged it out to my dad's body shop, and
this is what ensued...
This is the day i picked it up, it HAD a kaminari kit on it when sc0rp7 bought it,
but it didn't fit very well, plus he wanted to keep it.

after i started tearing it down.

Put a bit of tractor paint on the frame rail after i removed some surface rust.

Gutted the inside for wiring purposes, and i had originally planned to paint the
interior metal as well.

removed the bumpers, fenders, doors and taillights, etc. for prep work

a touch of penn state for ya.. i try to avoid cars that have been up north
in their life time... i can't seem to locate the picture of the repair, it was
cleaned up to remove all the rust, then the hole was covered with fiberglass,
then finished with a light coat of filler.

the various repairs around the car.

the car had a sport spoiler on it that was removed, and the really didn't
smooth the panel out when they were done, so it was recovered and re-smoothed.

can you guess what im doing? this is a picture of the VERY rare optional,
one man power drivetrain...

getting things ready for trimming in..

...F*CK SOME HATCH JAMBS! sore fingers for a week...

time for a splash of PAINT!

ok, so its all trimmed out and ready to rock, so we finish the prep and get it in
the paint booth.

so its all set up, first thing on the car is a nice coat of sealer.

MORE PAINT!!!

get the shiny stuff on it..

I repainted and touched up a lot of things on the car before i put them back in the
engine bay.

I get it all reassembled and swapped my motor and transmission, suspension and wheels on it, loving it, having tons of fun.
all the parts came from this car. she took me and sc0rp7 all the way through
technical school, and many good times, and a few bad times (read: tickets)

this is when we took our family camping trip to the smokies (every summer..) my girlfriend and I took my 7.

cade's cove scenic loop.

at the camp ground..

The next things on my list for the car are:
Coilovers,
rebuild the exhaust,
wheels that have a MUCH more aggressive fitment.

Damn, this makes me feel bad, because you did twice the work that I have done so far twice as fast!

I've been working on my FC for like 5 months now... and I didn't even do any bodywork except for some rust repair along the framerails, and the right rear door area.

Great work man! The only this that I will comment on is the color, I dont think your camera is very good because it doesnt capture the color at all! Maybe you just didn't take good photographs?

Very nice man, good color choice too.

Any plans on the mirrors? For some reason they stand out in that color, lol.

Props though, big props...

i want to get some S5 aero mirrors, then they would be body color. i also want to get the windows tinted up, then i think it will look sweet.

but all the money on that car is going toward my minor projects on it for now, like getting an air pump for the VDI conversion and 6 port actuators, installing my microtech, and re-rebuilding the exhaust.
