Default My project

Well i guess its my turn to start a build thread.. I will be taking my '82 base model and transform it into something that will make me crap myself every time i drive it.. I just picked up a S5 as a daily so i can finally get this shindig started.

First the machine..

I drove all the way to Greensville SC, to get this since i couldnt find anything around here worth buying.. there is hardly any rust on it.. the gray fender is from someone hitting me in a parking lot so i had to replace it.. It has a cracked dash and alot of sunfade and rubber pars dry rotted and falling apart..

My plans are to rebuild the 12a.. with new rotor housings, seals, bearing etc etc. Balanced rotating assembly. Street port or Bridgeport , turbo II transmission. ford rear end, sump the gas tank for -8 fuel line out to the pump then -6 lines all teh way to the motor and back
The car is gonna be fuel injected with a Megasquirt2 which Low Impedance is assembling for me.. Running Throttle Body Injection on a downdraft manifold.

I will then be adding this

Its a garrett to4s 60-1 .84 exhaust side p trim and clipped , .70 compressor side 4"tapered inlet with a 2.5" discharge

More to come once i start disassembly.

Not a bad set-up. Good luck with your project.
If your going with FI, what are you gonna do with the carb? Might be interested if you want to sell it. Is that a Mikuni or Weber?

The carb will most likely get sold... Its a weber 45 dcoe (mazdatrix setup)... i have various jets and, air correctors and idle jets, it currently has 40mm chokes and have a set or 38mm ones that i never installed. I tuned it myself by smell and feel lol i know not the best way but it runs real strong and it doesnt smell so bad.

Let me know if you decide to sell it. I'm getting ready to rebuild my 85 and would like to get rid of the Nikki.

Apparently the steering wheel is off of an SA from what ive been told.. my car is a mish mash of stuff... my body is an 82 the steering wheel is an SA, my rotating assembly is apparently a 83-85 since i need the larger clutch and pressure plate.. and who know what else.. And dont worry ill have loads of fun next summer.

Actually, that steering wheel was the standard issue S model wheel from 79 to 83. The GS & GSL got the 4 spoke, while the S got that 2 spoke wheel.

I think I like the two spoke better. I'd still prefer a smaller diameter one though.

nice man, iam in the same boat as you.but iam buying a focus for my new daily . i just got my turbo tracking number. iam going with a Garrett t04b dont know the specs off the top of my head, got it dirt cheap from a fc guy. still trying to deiced on my intake setup. i want to go carb since i know a few people who have tuned a blow thru setup vs me not having much money to have some one tune a ecu for me. i just need to decied side draft, moded stock carb, or racing beat holly moded.

if you can find one get a working 79 cluster the speed gauge goes to 130 ish(cant remember) it will swap right out no mods needed ect. i swapped my 1980 cluster for a 79 nice knowing how fast your going after 85.

true true i did drive a 4.6 crown vic for the last 3 years . iam trying to deiced between a cheap focus or a cheap awd car. never let a drunk person move your car, my buddy had to move my winter car and wound up tearing the front end off .

since you had a side draft is it true there a bitch to tune right for street use. ive been told they are harder to get right then a 4 barrel.
