Default low oil press problems at idle

Im runnin roughly 17-21 lbs of pressure at idle and I can get 60-70 @ 3K rpms. Its a fresh rebuild, so I dunno if that could be a problem. I am honestly thinkin that my front cover O ring mite have squeezed out. I cant rev to 6k cause its a fresh engine so I was hopin for some ideas from you all of a possible other culprit then the O ring.

Thanx.

Did you torque the oil pump down to spec and bend the lock washer up on the side of the nut?

Yup. It was my frist rebuild. (engine was actually in pieces when I got it) I spent 2 months reading, re reading and asking questions, checking all tolerances, clearances, the housings, the irons as the manual says to do. Even mocked up a junk engine that I had to make sure I did it right. Took it apart and did it again before I put this one together.

All torque specs were followed. This wasnt my frist engine I have ever rebuilt, just my forst rotary.lol

15psi at idle is normal.
What were you expecting?

I was going to say.....that is not low pressure. I get around 20-25 at idle (when warm) and 70+ depending on RPM (anything over like 2K rpm).

When Fero313's FC had low pressure, it was ZERO at idle, and would bleed a little when sustaining RPM's. Then you have a problem!

Mazda’s specification is 50psi @ 3000 rpm minimum on 3rd gens. I run a 1000-1100 rpm idle to float the bearings better.
