....putting the 2.3 MZR from the Speed3s into and FC?

Many have, but it is set up for FWD configuration. I don't think it shares a bell housing pattern with the Miata RWD trans either.

It would be easier to start with the Mazdaspeed Miata engine, just because it is already set up correctly.
