1983 Rx7 Owner
I bought my 1983 Rx7 new in July 1983 in Long Beach, California. During the last 30 years I have owned several other cars, have been issued company cars, worked from home, worked out of town - but always held onto my sky blue Mazda (sometimes to my wife's chagrin). Last year I invested several thousand dollars to have the car re-painted for the first time as well as refurbishing the interior - which still needs a little detail work. The engine is original with just over 123K miles. I am now working from home and driving the car every day if only to the gym or just around town. I'm interested in comparing notes with other first gen Rx7 owners and mechanics. I live in the Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina and enjoy motorsports as a fan and marketing professional. In younger years I raced a G Production Triumph Spitfire in SoCal and in my business career have ran marketing for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and managed the sponsorship of the winning car of the 1997 Indianapolis 500 for my employer at the time, Nortel. I am a racing historian and a published writer of numerous articles about motorsports history. I also own and operate a Web site, www.firstsuperspeedway.com, which focuses on auto racing history from the first quarter of the 20th Century.
