I wouldn't put a fuel pump that far up stream in the fuel system. It would take quite some time to prime it also you are dealing with higher temps under the hood.
Why don't you just put it in the same location as the old fuel pump?

Be careful. Some pumps are designed to PUSH fuel, while others are designed to PULL fuel. Neither one will last long in the wrong application...
