Why do you want a fiber glass hood over carbon fiber? The stock hood weights less than carbon fiber, fyi. Is there a style you are going for? I would just get the CF one....

Best hood in fg in my opinion is the autoexe. You can see it at corksport.com. Cf hoods are cheaper though and you can always paint them. The oem hood is the lightest thus far... But does not provide good heat relief. Be careful of vented hoods that don't have proper drains for rain as it can direct water onto your steering rack controller and cause shorts...

Its a case by case basis unfortunately, just make sure it has a rain guard... if you do find that its draining incorrectly, you can use some tubing or hose to reroute the water if needed...

The plugs for the rack are sitting on top of the rack, right behind/below the air box. IMO you should be fine as long as those are not drained on, it has been proven that they don't mix well with water. You could make some kind of cover for it, then it wouldn't influence your hood selection. I wouldn't worry to much about water in the bay, it is pretty exposed anyway, and many cars have vents without guards. For example, the Evo's rain guard didn't stop the water from falling into the exhaust manifold and turbo, it only blocks view into the engine compartment. (excluding the Evo x, I don't know about that)

We have a hood on one of our RX8s that caused the steering rack to fail, so thats why I'm mentioning it. Its not a huge issue, but just running around all day in the rain with an open hood CAN cause issues so I think its best to protect against it.
