Xcessive Motor Mounts
Thought I would cross post this in case anyone here needed the info.
Mounts arrived today and I installed them this evening. First impression is they are less annoying than the Himni mounts. The xcessive mounts also have less vibration than one stock mount and one Himni mount which is what I resorted to in order to drive the car without getting pissed off. Install was a bit of a pain since your putting a square peg in a round hole, literally. Overall I'm pleased with them and the only real issue is a resonance between 1000 and 1500 RPM when pulling away from a stop. Other than that they dampen similar to stock but remove alot of slop from the drivetrain. Shifting is much improved and the car responds quicker on direction changes. price on the site is $189.99 , Mr. Garfinkle.
<track>7 , which Himni engine mounts did you have? Their site claimed they were offering softer durometer mounts and I bought a set of those. The vibration is manageable for the most part, but there is a VERY noticeable resonance around 1500-1800RPM when pulling away from a stop. |

The Himni mounts I bought were red. No clue which ones they were but I asked for the street version. If I got the race version I wouldn't be surprised. Their website showed the mounts had shipped the day I bought them. Email confirmation as well. Seven days and many, many unanswered calls later I filed a complaint with Paypal seeking a refund. Miraculously they shipped the same day. Your mileage may vary.

As an aside, the only reason I didn't buy Garfinkle's brace was the cost of my one blown mount and his brace was double the Xcessive mounts. On top of that I still had to install the brace. At this point I was tired of crawling under the car in 105F temps to work on it. I still don't like the resonance but I'm willing to live with it.

Radial GT, I think the idea is to prevent excess movement without transmitting a lot of vibration to the subframe. Eliminating metal-to-metal contact should keep things quieter inside the cabin.

Yep. A combination of a bolt-thru design and hard durometer can get old over time for a streeted car. I think it started out really old-school with solid aluminum cylinders, then hockey pucks, then poly of various degrees of hardness. And now it seems Noltec and Xcessive have discovered alternatives.

I've got Noltecs now. Didn't measure them, but visually they didn't look any taller than the OEM. My engine is higher, but I figured it was due to the pan brace and forgetting to have the arms milled 3/16".
Regardless I wouldn't give them up. They're as quiet (NVH) as OEM but control engine movement really well.

Well the oil pan brace definitely raises it, but the Noltecs I had raised it too. I didn't have a pan brace back then and I had trouble fitting the same strut bar on, so I used spacers. My roommate has a pan brace and the Noltecs right now and his is WAY too high to use a strut bar, unless he uses some fairly thick spacers. I do love the Noltecs, just can't use them with the other things I have.
