there is also this one, which has a volvo patented port water injection system, AND traction control in 1983-84. the water injection uses normal fuel injector/pump/etc and a special water/lubricant to have port style water. i guess the benefit is very low water consumption. they were running 20-23psi on the 2.1 liter volvo engines for 350-370hp.

the traction control is the first ever, it consists of magnets on the #2 and 3 CIS injectors, so it can cut fuel.

RICE RACING will become famous soon enough
Thumbs up Good post mate.

Thanks for that,

I have all that stuff on file from when I was first watching them in 1985.

Croatian Robbie Fransevic won the Australian Touring Car Championship in a water injected "Brick" as above.

There water injection fluid was a mix of pure water and machining cutting fluid! (like I used to use at work in the machining centers) this was so you/they could use normal fuel injectors and fuel pump to deliver the water as you described.

Very cool car

bad-ass cars ... and truck! that 240 is totally wicked, but i've always been a sucker for wagons and that 850 ....

always thought Volvo was very underrated. this is good stuff.
