Beautiful, beautiful Gen 1. Any interior pics? BTW, you mentioned what you have invested, but didn't list an asking price. If you could please, that would help!

I am guessing this number comes from the $8k it was appraised at + the actual appraisal fee + the cost he had to pay to have it shipped, and then a few incidentals.

The appraisal is subjective, and the other expenses are just that, expenses. You can't get those back.

I will trade you heads up for a 2004 RX-7 Grand Touring.

Personally $10K is reasonable for a collector who's looking for all original. If the paint and especially the interior is in mint condition, I think $10K is reasonable price to ask.

I had a mint 85 GSL SE and I sold that for I believe 6K. It was repainted, paint was in OK condition, but inside was almost brand new.

But at the same time, current economical state will cause you to have hard time finding that right buyer.

Opinions

Thanks for everyone's opinion of the car, it's condition and it's value - without seeing it. The harassment from other users means I'm removing this posting for sale here.

swfl83rx7 - I saw this car on Ebay a while ago. I think you must have purchased from the dealer that was listing it (I can't recall where they were located, but for some reason I think it's Illinois. Is there anything wrong with the car, did it not meet your expectations? I think it had 14,700 miles at that point. Another question is why wouldn't you disclose that the engine was rebuilt? I spoke to the dealer and they claimed the car sat for too long and the Apex seals were blown, hence the need for a rebuild. Maybe something changed or you received a different story from the dealer, but I'm just stating what the internet guy told me from the dealer last September. The car looks beautiful, but I was just wondering the cars story prior to you owning it and what you've experienced with the car since you adopted it. Have you had any issues, or saw problems with the rebuilt engine? I am in the market for a vehicle in this condition, but would need to ensure the cars history is accurate and I wouldn't be taking a problem off someone's hands. If I recall correctly, you paid $8K, which we all thought was a little rich, but as you state, it's all relative to what a buyer and seller can agree to. Please let me know your thoughts and maybe ultimately we can cut a deal that makes sense for both of us.

Facts

Thought the site was other enthusiasts and supporters - not haters.

Wow, I didn't expect that response. I was just stating what I believe to be the situation. In no way was I trying to slander your post, but I believe my facts are the actual facts. Your car was actually discussed on another RX-7 forum (rx7club.com), link listed below, and as you can see, you actually used some of the same photo's on your profile of the car in front of the dealership. I'm sorry you're so defensive, but I didn't mean any harm. One of the pictures actually shows the VIN with the last six of 736940 (a little fuzzy, but I think that's correct), so only you know if it's the same car. I actually don't think the rebuilt engine matters and obviously expressed interest in the car in my post, but I guess that doesn't matter. I recognize value as well considering I sold my 84 GSL-SE with 29K original miles about a year ago and was able to get over $11K. I think if you read both of my posts, you'll realize you may have over-reacted a bit.

Here are the Facts!

I think it's interesting that my two posts, just stating some facts and asking a few key questions are considered harassment. I think by you deleting your post, you just gave us all the information on the car. I think we are a bunch of enthusiasts, but when someone is trying to sell and they claim they bought from the original owner (when it was actually a dealership) and claim all original, when the engine was actually rebuilt, that should be pointed out. Like I said, you are very defensive which shouldn't be the case because the rebuilt engine isn't a big deal and the dealership took this car as a trade-in. You probably saw my last post and said "Oh crap", this guy has the facts, so I'm just going to delete my post and claim he's harassing me. Just so you know I have all the facts on this car. Car was purchased at Ike Honda in Marion Illinois and I even saved the original listing that shows all the details and had discussion with the sales department on the engine rebuild. They were asking $7,625 for the car, but then put it on Ebay, where it ultimately went for $8K. I tried to attach a copy of the ad from Ike Honda for this car, so if you're VIN is JM1FB3310D0736940, then this is your car. The easy thing for you to do is to take a picture of your VIN and prove this all wrong.

I think he was talking about more people harassing him than just you, if he was even referring to you at all. There were other's responses in this thread that he took too much to heart instead of taking it with a grain of salt, and you might have just been the one that pushed him over the edge without even posting anything bad. Or, and more likely, you're right and he was lying about what he was selling.
