Depending on how much compression it will generate it could vary a LOT...

I'd just about say buy a motor with the intention of rebuilding it and if you get lucky then sweet. btw I paid $1300 for my whole TII. He wants that for a motor you haven't seen run? HA! What a douche.

Ditto to crazy seller, to much without tranny, and no proof or warranty of running

It's really up to you, but at least you know a little more about the condition of the parts now. I'd want to know how long it's been sitting. Assuming there's coolant in the combustion chambers I'd be leery of pitting and rust.

Gotcha. I think my comment still stands though. Make him on offer YOU can't refuse and see if he takes it. The objective would obviously be to come out with at least what you paid for. 300 bones for a thrashed keg would be utterly pointless, but 300 bones for a set of good condition irons and one good rotor/housing might not be bad. I paid a lot less than $300 for my keg, but it was worth more. I'm just glad I didn't have to pay more

Updates?
500 is reasonable, as long as the issue is just the coolant seals. You could have a fully rebuilt engine (after rebuild kit) for the price of the original guys offer. I would get some streetport templates and build a decent engine. It will be a shitstorm of dollars if the housings/rotors/etc are warped from overheating though. john ny |
