6 port porting...
Well i plan on building a s5 6 port with a holley setup and a pretty decent shot of nitorus... and im debating on porting.. alot of people say dont bother bridge porting just go with a street port (pineapple large sp is what im thinking) the 6 port sleeve are not going to be functional, always open... ive seen soem stuff from aussie land and a few us guys bridge their 6ports. any one have any insight on this?.... and buying 4 port irons is not an option

I ran a 87 6 port with no sleeves and ported. I have some pictures. This was one of the first motors I ported. It ran very strong uptop but lost low end torque, which we don't have already. I also ran a straight through exhaust. I'll try to post some photos shortly.

I have heard that there is good success to be had from cleaning the primary ports up and porting the secondarys considerably larger. If you leave the 6-PI working and fill a radius into the sleeve you can have the high end and low end both. I have never done much to a 6 port engine personally.

Using a 4bbl carb on a 6P engine without the sleeves, eliminates most of the low-end bog. The secondary ports aren't doing anything, until the carb's secondaries open.
As for the Holley, sorry, but I greatly prefer edelbrock carbs over holley. My SE 6P engine, with edelbrock 600, has excellent driveability, even though the aux sleeves are removed. I'm planning to have it ported, but I'm considering swapping the center iron for a 4 port center iron, since the stock ports are larger than what can be achieved with a 6P center iron. Being an SE engine, a 12A center iron will fit nicely, and should allow higher power than the small 6P ports. My goal is reaching 200HP without boost or spray. I think it's doable. |

200 WHp or bHp? 200 bHp should be no problem, 200 Whp is doable, but difficult.

I think the "Hybrid" 6P, with proper porting work, should be capable of hitting 200RWHP without having obnoxious driving habits.
It really oughta be fun, in a FB chassis. |
