To: Those of you with spoilers

I just finished installing an OEM 99 spec rear spoiler and found that the hatch struts (93 base) no longer hold everything up. So for those of you with spoilers, what was your solution? I know there were 99 spec hatch struts specifically for the spoiler, but I would rather not have to source these from Japan.

Get some new ones from Malloy Mazda.

I can't remember but I think there were difference between hatch with spoiler vs no spoilers. Call Ray and I'm sure he'll know. But no need to get ones for 99+ models from Japan.

Bah! mazda ones are way over priced if you go to most napa parts places give them the length of strut you need and they build them to spec for less than half of what mazda wants. plus the mazda ones are actually wrong they are upside down from the factory which leads to premature failure as the seal dries out and begins to leak. just something i learned recently from a welder i know who builds assemblies that use a lot of hydraulics and air struts so hes specialized in them for the last 25 years.

I have the oem ones with a 99 wing, and as far as I know the originals...they still hold.

Check out Ebay #330320786825. I've used this guy's products in the past and found them to work really well.
