im in the middle of putting a s5 turbo motor into my s4 turbo rx7. and today i tried to install the drive shaft, but for some reason its to long.(its a s4 drive shaft) so my question is do i have to get a s5 drive shaft or do i have to cut the s4 to fit?????

My minds tellin' me no...

If you are using the S5 trans, you have to use the S5 driveshaft.
Basically, it is isn't the engine, its the drivetrain that needs to stay in the family (S4 or S5) trans->driveshaft->differential From what I have read, you cannot mix and match pieces.

That is the information I got long ago. From what I understand, the only thing that is usable in the drivetrain between S4 and S5 TII's are the axle shafts.
I would hope someone else can chime in.

Um, your forum name makes me want to state the obvious so don't be offended:
Your putting the transmission end first, right? Now, the automatics ALL use the same DS. The rest are series specific with their pumpkins. How much longer is it?

Yah, you have to put the transmission end of the driveshaft in first then bolt it up to the differential.

Are you sure that you put the shaft all the way in, and that the trans or the diff is REALLY from the turbo model?
I have never heard that the Trubo stuff has to be series specific either, and I trolled the evil forum for like 2 years before I got my fc. I guesss you really DO learn something new every day!

Just doesnt make sene to me. I dont see how or why it would be different. You probably have an NA rear end.

Turbo doesn't matter - they should all swap.
This is not some funky JDM automatic FC turbo driveshaft, or something weird like that, right? The rear diff have different bolt patterns for turbo versus non-turbo. Tried checking the bolt pattern on the rear diff side first? Lastly... Is the engine + trans mounted and bolted into the car already??? -Ted |

yes its a turbo rear, yes the bolt pattern matches, it has a lsd if that would do anything, this used to be my friends car he gave me the drive shaft with it. that he used with his s4 turbo motor, and yes the motor and tranny are both bolted in.
