S5 6 port turbo
Now i have a 91 S5 engine sitting in a Rx7 in my driveway.. i was going to get it driveable and build up my 12a for turbo in my '82.. but i have decided to use the S5 for the FB...
Now i will be using a 60-1 .70 compressor/ .84 turbine... it will either be a larger SP or bridgie/half bridge.. i was wondering which rotors i should transplant.. I think the 9.7:1 might be a little high for a turbo, ive heard of good success using S4 NA blocks (9.4:1) and turbos so transplanting s4 rotors could be a possibility .. or should I just get a set of T2 rotors? Any input would be greatly appreciated.. |

S5 T2 rotors, would be the most reliable, S4 NA rotors would be for the more adventurous, but you'd need the S4 NA front counterweight and rear counterweight or stock flywheel.
S5 NA rotors you could try if you want to be a pioneer. |

With the high compression ratio rotors you will have better off boost throttle response and you will make more power per pound of boost. You will also generate more heat and will run into a point where it will become better to have lower compression rotors and run an extra pound or two of boost. This point will more than likely not become apparent until higher boost levels (15psi+ on straight pump gas).
I personally would use S4 turbo 8.5cr rotors, but I would probably be building a different car. Last edited by drewski86; 12-12-2008 at 09:51 AM.. |

I think i might have to be very adventurous and stick with the S5 NA rotors.. what can it hurt.. a blown up motor at the worst.. and a hell of a fast spooling 60-1 at best.. ill just make sure i monitor the shit out of EGTs and AFR... maybe a water/alky kit.. this can be fun
