Default IS DTC only be cleared by Dealership?

I replaced my steering wheel and now DTC code for airbag is on.. I know the airbag is good and only thing was that I didn't disconnect the ground before removing.. I know, that was dumb.. but now its reading a DTC code.. i checked everything twice/three times and everything seems good..

Anyone know if DTC code could be only be cleared by dealer?? Or can I clear it?? thanks!

PHIL

You replaced the steering wheel with another, functioning, OE steering wheel?

If so, pull the battery for 30 minutes and stand on the brake pedal for 30 seconds at the start of that time.

Not pulling the battery when you swapped the wheel could have led to your decapitation, not just a CEL, so consider yourself lucky.

Yes, I replaced it with another OE steering wheel (all black to black and red).
I know... I was being lazy and didn't think about it until I took the airbags off..

Thanks for the input.. I'll give that a try.

what is the procedure...a little more specifically? sorry I'm not trying to jack a thread, but I need to reset my engine codes because I disconnected the battery for 2 days, then the engine light came on and has stayed on. Nothing seems wrong so I don't want to waste my time at the stealership until necessary. Thanks ahead of time
