as commented in the vid just got my apex exhaust kit i will be putting on. A few questions on the car. oil smoke ? What might be doing that? carb wont idle below 950 rpm whats that all about ? i adjusted in the area between lean and rich. other than that i have the spare engine almost ready to go in. I have gained a lot of power with everything so far, and got my gas mileage back to around 20 mpg high way an around 17 in town if i take it easy.

Well the carb could still have a minor leak of air or fuel. Perhaps the timing is slightly off. I know that the effects of timing were drastic for the weber I have.
is the vacuum advance system in place and working on the dizzy?

yeah, had to cap off a broken piece on the nest, but everything is tight. recently got it to idle at 800 rpm. there are fuel leaks i found, needs a new fuel line. as far as timing i need to get a light and check it. still no clue why it oil smokes from time to time

ok timing is a degree off, still running just a tad rich, had to back it off on fuel. then i noticed my floats are also a wee bit out of alignment, one starts putting a bit more fuel than the other, not much but i think that will effect things. so when the weather is good enough I'll try to get that fixed. the new exhaust kit helped it a lot. The old muffler had clogged on a broken baffle restricting the flow. at that the car sounds throaty, deep rumble at idle, happy i went with the apex stainless steel set up.
