Yes! Another 'car won't start' thread
This being my first my first post on this forum, what better way to start out than ask a question that has been asked a million times before. However, I need a fresh set of eyes, so here it goes:
I have a '93 with just over 100 000km on the chassis. It uses a PFC for engine management. The engine had a questionable history, and since I had some money burning a hole in my pocket I took it upon myself to rebuild: * Rebuilt w/ generous street port * All emissions equip. removed * Vac line simplification (sequential) as per the diagram * Stock primary injectors, rx7store secondary fuel kit (KG parts). * Everything was removed from the UIM (including the double throttle), save for the AIT sensor * HKS Twin Power Problems: The car will not start: Initially, I had a fuel problem. My primary injectors had stuck closed while they were sitting for 5 months. I unstuck them, and thought I was good to go. No such luck. The car turns over, stumbles like it wants to start, then falls on it's face. It will do this over and over (requiring me to stop cranking and then start again), but will never start. This was chalked up to low compression because of the fresh rebuild. I replaced the plugs, and tried pull starting it. Nothing. As soon as you put the clutch in, the car dies. I did manage to keep it at 3k rpm for half a minute by planting my foot to the floor, but I was never able to reproduce that oddity again. Not to mention it ran like shit and smoked like a mother. (And no, at this point all the lubricants ect. have been burnt off.) Things I have checked: * TPS * Primary Injectors are not stuck shut * Spark on all plugs (new plugs) * Fuel Pressure * Compression (even bumps on all faces of both rotors) * CAS connectors and their voltages * both the map from the car (running) before the rebuild, and the default PFC map What else can I check? What sensors and factors do I NEED for an FD to run? I was told by a person who had a similar problem that my fuel temp sensor is the culprit? Mine is not connected, and I changed the settings with a datalogit as per Chuck Westbrooks tuning notes. I don't lend this theory much credit, but I have to ask? Are the secondary injectors used when starting the car? I just finished reading a thread on here the stated the secondary injectors were the cause of his starting problem? Anyways, the gist of the story is that I'm out of ideas. Before resigning to starting back from scratch, I'd like to exhaust every other possibility. Thank you.
