loose steering? gear box?
So my 83 gsl has about 3 inches of play in the steering how do I fix this. Do I need to replace the entire gear box? I have heard that this is a common issurle any help would be great

Check your tie rods and the idler arm bushing first. I had a similar problem which turned out to be the idler arm bushing being shot. MazdaTrix has the bushing and it's not expensive to replace. Otherwise it's in the box itself. You can tighten it up a little with the backlash screw, but be careful as it doesn't take much and if you go too far you could have problems.

Yeah gunny I replaced everything idler arms ball joints tie rods the hole nine so I think I am just gonna have to replace my gear box
