More dirty pics... I didn't take a picture of the sand, but I should have. I have a feeling this car went off the road. The passenger fender is mucked up, so was the header panel and rear quarter. I could see spinning out into a ditch in FL would def pour sand everywhere!

And for the clean parts.
I soak everything in Simple Green for as long as I can. I also use paint stripper (this stuff is like acid, DO NOT GET ON HANDS) to help break up carbon deposits. The paint is a ceramic high temp made for dispersing heat. Looks good. I like the factory aluminum appearance... The sleeves were also sanded down with a scuff pad to be sure they were smooth...
