Thanks for the tips guys, I am going to start looking into classes since I have tuition assistance anyway. Might as well learn a bit before I go buying a welder if I can help it =P

Learning puddle control with oxy fuel is the best way IMHO to learn to weld properly

Merv, also consider checking out the auto hobby shop at your base. They may have a welder you can mess around with if you get to know the attendants.
