I'd be concerned about the wood tray. It will absorb fuel and oil and eventually be a fire
hazard and the heat from the headers may be too much as well. Woods flash point is around 500 F so you maybe should sheath that wood in thick foil or something. I think the AL would have been better and almost as light with not issues with the heat. Cool project, keep us updated.
