So I remember...
Somebody on some forum was talking about adapting second gen lower control arms to the FB.
Anybody know if that was ever successful??? Can it be done? Is it something we can work out here amongst ourselves?

I would contact Billy at ReSpeed. It seems like he has alot of resto-mod experience with FB's, and I thought it was him.
I believe he has a sub-forum as well.

Omid and I believe someone else adapted the entire front suspension from an FC into a 1st gen. Actually didnt look all that difficult.

I think it all comes down to the steering linkage and limited suspension travel

Can the subframe from the FB be removed, and have the subframe from the FC modified and put in along with the FC steering?
I like how much more solid the FC control arms are over the FB.

I think so. But how will you mount the engine?

If you use the whole FC subframe, you could then easily swap in an FC engine. Instant EFI!!!

I've read on a rally board about that setup. It makes sense since there are a lot more suspension bits available for the FC. Not to mention better brakes, 5 lugs etc. I don't remember the specifics, but the subframe is supposedly a pretty close match. As mentioned, you'd be best off installing a 2nd gen engine with that setup. When I have more time I'll try and finding some more solid information. This is an idea I've been playing with in my mind.

Apparently a few people have swapped the whole front suspension. Here's a very brief overview.

I've got a complete FC front suspension laying outside my shop if you want me to measure stuff for you. The whole assembly would be the easiest way to do it. You could probably take it all the way into the interior and have a tilt column from the FC pretty easily.

I was walking around and tripped over the subframe and remembered this thread.
The front holes one the FC subframe are 31" apart, the rear holes are 31 7/8" apart, the front to back spacing of the holes is 13". The ball joint line is right around 1 7/8" to 2" behind the front holes. Those should get you a pretty good idea when you combine them with the published track width etc. Any other specifics let me know. IIRC the height at the holes was all equal, I'll double check though.
