New wheel/tire setup - are these offsets ok? UPDATED 11/1/11
****Updated 11/1/11****
This is the setup I'm now curious about: How about this setup with Tein coilovers? 17*9 +22 rear with 255/40 tire 17*8 +35 front with 235/40 tire Will that work? ********************* Hey guys, I'm about to switch to a new wheel/tire setup on my S4 GXL, and I want to get about as much rubber as reasonably possible under the thing. I'm planning on rolling the fenders, and I'm open to running spacers if needed. All I really care about is getting the best handling possible out of this beast (without blowing through tires every six months.) The setups I want to use is this: Tires: Falken Azenis Front: 235/40 r17 Rear: 255/40 r17 Wheels: Enkei RPF1s Front: 17x8 +45 offset Rear: 17x8.5 +30 or +40 offset Apparently those offset are the only ones these wheels are available in. Can I make those offsets work, either with or without spacers? Also, I know those rims are wide enough for the tires to fit on all right; is there any reason I should consider any other size wheel? Thanks in advance! -Collin Last edited by MmSadda; 11-01-2011 at 07:31 PM. |

17x8 +35 front
17x8.5 +30 rear The offsets you listed will rub in the front. You can get a 17x8 +35 RPF1. I had a set on my FD. |

What do you think of those size wheels for the setup? |

With coilovers you can run a 17x8 +35 F and a 17x9 +35 R without rolling the fenders unless you're doing some SERIOUS track duty with R-comps. Trust me on this.
The size tire you have listed for the rear, while it will work, isn't ideal for that rim size. 9" is good for a 255 tire. A 10mm spacer is WAY too much in my opinion. You'll need longer wheel studs, new lugs etc etc etc. From the specs above, you can play around with different sizes/offsets by using a calculator like this one http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp Or you can go baller........ ![]() Enkei RPF1 in an 18x8.5 +30 and 18x10 +38 with a 255/35 and a 275/35. Use lots of inflation though and hope they don't flex. You MAY rub in the rear, I did slightly with the Hoosier R6's on the trailing arm and the exhaust shield, BUT, they were about 5lbs under inflated, they never really got hot enough, the fronts did though ![]()

Thanks, Brian! Any idea what I can get away with not using coilovers? Ill probably change over eventually, but im dropping a lot of cash into supercharging and wheels and tires; can't really afford coilovers for now

If you can't afford coilovers, then don't go any lower offset than a +30 with an 8" wheel. Without coilovers, you'll rub on the spring and possibly the fender depending on the width of the wheel.
I would spend the money on coilovers first before you look at wheels. |

Camber was about 3.5* Quote:
Look for spring rates in the 7/5 range. Alot of them com 8/6 and that's way too stiff. The only time I wanted more spring in the front was going into big bend @~100mph on Hoosier R6's

I've actually got basically everything I need... I'll be posting a thread in about a month when the car is (with luck) done. I want to do this properly, but that means it's taking far more time and money than expected. |

Front perfect, rear will most likely contact the fender, lots of rolling would be a good thing, or running a higher ground clearance

Thanks Brian! Should I look at slightly higher offsets for the rear? I know Logan's going to roll the fenders pretty aggressively, but I think I can prolly get thewheels in a +30 offset or somethin
