Default Obligatory introductory post, Mk I

I noticed a bit of a mass exodus happening over in the other forum, and decided to set up a camp here.

I live in Raleigh, NC and I'm 37 years old. I've like the rotary powered cars since I was old enough to know that they were a bit different from other piston driven vehicles. That was way back in about 1980. Various things kept me from getting one for a while, but it was always on the short list when I did buy a car.

I managed to finally pick up my first '7 back in 1997 from Bruce Turrentine. It was an '88 SE that he had painted to be the same grey color as the NC state trooper cars. It looked pretty sharp, somewhere between Tornado Grey and the Arctic Silver. I never modified it, used it as a daily driver for a few years before it died pushing 200k. I sold it for a song, as I had just bought a DOA 1987 TII.

I still have that car, and I'm about to put the third (sob) motor into it. As it sits now, I've lost compression on the front rotor, and I'm in the middle of the lovely parts cleaning process for the rebuild. It is my intent to get it on the road within the next two months.

I've also got another '7 lined up- a white 1991 with no motor or transmission in it. I'm getting it from a friend of mine in the MSCCNC. My wife won't let me bring it to the house until the other one is rebuilt, so at the moment I'm just trying to line up some parts so I can get it on the road quickly when I do bring it over. Yeah, I'm just a glutton for punishment. Trust me when I say I've been spending a lot of time in junk yards lately.

Someday I hope to make it out to the local '7 meet here in Raleigh, but Saturdays are booked most weeks.
