Former SRT guy, now a converted ROTORHEAD!!! YEAHHH!!
Well after a bunch of stress over buyingi the car sight-unseen (except for pics) and having a forum member over at rx7club go look at it for me, my baby has arrived! Here's the info: 93 Red R1 66,000 original miles PFS intercooler catback there may be a few other mods, but i haven't had a chance to go over the car as it just arrived last night! I'll post pics up soon. Damn, it's dirty after the flatbed ride up from Texas! I took it for a quick spin up the street to get some gas, and just the feeling of driving it made me feel like I was a teenager again taking my first drive in an FD. That feeling's priceless! The car made the long trip up across the border to Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Here's the first 3 pics of the car, as it's being offloaded from the flatbed.
The only thing that's got me worried is that I'm not sure if it should be smoking as bad as it is on startup right now. This is my first rotary, so i'm not sure what's normal for these cars, but cold start, it's smokes quite a bit. I haven't had any starting issues, and it seems to idle fine and run smoothly under load. Not sure if it's just exhaust coming out though, or if there's coolant in the exhaust right now... I asked the dealer that i bought it from in texas to make sure that the car was filled with antifreeze coolant, and not just water, but upon checking the fluid, it's almost all water. Not much green in it, and my coolant tester is at the bottom end of the scale, saying it's good to maybe -10C (12F) I can't smell that sweet antifreeze smell in the exhaust but that could just be because there's not much in the mix. We had a cold spell while it was sitting in the warehouse in Buffalo awaiting the trip across the border, and it's been a little chilly here, so i'm worried there might have been damage. Then again, maybe i've just got an overactive imagination. I always fear the worst. People are stupid. Grr.. Last edited by Heeley; 04-05-2008 at 02:24 AM.. |

The other bit of drama... typical bureaucratic bullshit... I need a temporary permit to get the safety done, because the dealer didn't send the temp plate.... but the MTO won't give me a temp permit without a safety inspection... which i need the permit to go and get. wtf.
