Hello

I just wanted to introduce myself. I am a new member living in Southern California. At this point of time, I have a 13b rew and I am not sure if I want to drop it in my super beetle or buy an FC shell to put it in. Either way I know I am in for a massive headache and an investment I do not have money for yet, but I am excited about trying to get an engine swapped in one of these cars for as cheap as possible!

NoDOHC will become famous soon enough
The beetle swap used to be popular, I think that the beetles are not as common now, as I haven't seen it for several years now.

The good thing about the beetle is that it is light. The biggest problem with a turbo rotary in a beetle is that the transaxle won't take the torque well. Maybe a braced Rhino case will take a bone-stock REW.

The FC is easier, but a lot more common too, what are you looking for?

Anyway, welcome to the club!

I am actually pursuing the three options thus far... now, if I were to do the beetle I would be going with pure drag setup in mind (nothing but a roll cage, fuel cell, the engine, and maybe a passenger... the FC I would like to follow as I love the design and it would make a better all around drift car (plus I am optomistic about getting the A/C working but this may be a pipe dream)... I would keep that fairly stock aside from an intake, cat back, and the intercooler piping (as I would have to make it)... only isssue with the FC is wiring, would love to run a stock ECU but don't know if it is possible (costs on a wiring guy may be too much and I just don't have the no-how unless someone has a guide somewhere...

FD shell, would love to but the FC shells are out there for fairly cheap (plus many non-runnings are out there and I can actually bolt the REW to the stock trans in those)...

Either way I am fairly open to what I am going to do with the engine and waiting till I get a decent job to afford my project. I have always wanted an RX7 so the FC and FD are likely, but the beetle would be sweet so we shall see what deals pass me by at what time to see where I go with it.

Hey, anyone want to trade an FC non-running for a AE86 SR5 not running let me know and we may have something. I'm in socal so humor me but we'll see what happens.
