Gotta do this fast...
Hey y'all my name is TJ. I live in Hoover, Al and I just came into ownership of a FB RX-7 I'm in the market looking for a rotary and a tranny for this car. All help is appreciated (sorry for the huge picture)
The car was completly stripped of everything wheh nI got it. I hope to turn it into rally-x car as well as one day take it to compete in rally-america. I love rallying and I want to comepete in the WRC some day. |

An FB Rally Car, I am jealous now, I always wanted one, but have run out of places to store cars (or have too many).
I wanted to put a 4-port in one (mildly ported, probably about 250 Hp) and rally cross it. I would recommend buying a blown 4-port minus turbo for 250-300 bucks and rebuilding it for 400 ish more. You can do all your own porting and assembly and get a pretty good running machine for under a grand. Welcome to the club!

You won't be rebuilding the old one....
keep your eyes peeled for a 4-port on craigslist or eBay. If you can get one blown, it should considerably cheaper than one that is in questionable condition and may be blown from a cheap eBay supplier. Plus, you know what you are getting.

A 13B will certainly go in there (you will need an older 13B front cover, usually available on eBay and sometimes on here). I would recommend a 13BT (out of a turbo car) without the turbo. These engines are good for way more than factory turbocharged output (185 Hp) - naturally aspirated. You don't need big power for rallying, 250 Hp (easily doable out of a NA 4-port) is plenty (unless you do hill climbs).
I personally think that turbo chargers add a lot of potential failure points for use in a rally application.
