Default diesel 3rd gen rx7

i was wondering if it was possible or a good idea to put a 6.6L LLY duramax motor in a 3rd gen rx7. i no people put sb 350s in them and they perform very well but what about a diesel.

I don't know much about the "6.6L LLY Duramax" to make any comments..

But what I would ask is if there is a specific reason why you want to convert? Ie, Show or track?

With time and money you can put anything in anywhere. That's a reference to cars, people, and just about everything else...

But really, Think about the weight of a huge diesel engine placed over the front wheels of a 2800lb stock car. Imagine a fat guy on a see-saw with a skinny kid. Can it be done? yes. Should it be.... No fucking way.

If you don't like the rotary engine, my advice is to not get an Rx7. But if you just love the FD body so much you must have it, and still hate the rotary, so your forced into choosing another motor. The options are endless. If your looking to be different, the options are still endless. Just stay away from from HEAVY diesels. But if you just have to have a diesel, Look into inline 6 turbo diesels. You can shave off enough iron from the outside of the block to offset the weight. Modify the tranny tunnel to push it back behind the front wheels as far as possible. Expect this project to be in the 40k area...

Although, i have seen a 4 cylinder diesel in a 2nd gen body.

Why not put that 2.5L TDI from a Jetta? Guy did that swap in to a 914 at work, it was a neat car. I am not a fan of taking out the rotary, but hey just as long as its unique and not a Chevy then I say go for it.
