Default 12a carburetor

Hi i have a 1985 mazda rx7, it is misfiring, i changed plugs ang plug wires and put new catalyc converter on it, not sure what carburetor is on it, it looks stock, are there many different kinds?
Does any one have any pictures that would make it easier for me to understand where to adjust it, Thanks Gerald

All of your answers can be found at www.sterlingmetalworks.com

Put your reading glasses on, and treat it like a study session. lol. There is literally an entire library's worth of information that he has collected over the years.

Hi Kentetsu, thank you for the reply, was wondering if anyone was out there. I`ve been researching it alot, and wow there is so many components that can cause problems, i was thinking that a 1985 vehicle would be easy to troubleshoot, but this is gonna be a extreme challenge, hats off to sterling, wish me luck, pretty sure i have a nikki 4 bbl

If it's a stock car then yes, you have a Nikki 4bbl carb.

I've had Haynes manuals for 4 vehicles and have a tough time finding something in my car that is acurately depicted in their pictures. I use them mostly as a general source for information.
Good luck.

Download the '85 FSM. It should depict your carb accurately.

***There is also the '79-85 Mazda Carburetor Manual (blue cover) in the "Other" section which I found to be a good read.***

At Sterling's site (link posted above), he's got a writeup on how to tune the idle which is definitely worth reading. If you do it right, you don't have to worry about high idle, stalling at stop lights, or premature hair loss. Check it out if you haven't yet, its located in the section titled Tuning the Nikki.
