I hate stupid people; fuel line hoses/clamp issues
Last time I drove my car, I started smelling gas near the fuel tank. Since the global warming has had us in the deep freeze for most of Dec, Jan and Feb, it wasn't till today that I actually had a chance get under it.
After removing most of the tank shields, and removing the DS tank strap, I could easily see where the smell was coming from. At some point prior to my purchasing the car, someone replaced the lines from the tank to the chassis. They used good quality, fuel injection rated hose. The problem was they used 5/16 for both the supply and return. Not only that, but the return line was WAY too long, and was nearly crimped closed at both ends. Apparently, they had problems with it trying to crimp closed, so they slid a ~1/2" hard plastic cover over it, rather than trim it shorter. It seems they also had trouble getting the clamps to seal, so they used 2 clamps on each end. Damned determined to not use the right size or length hose, I spose...... Oh, the leak was from the plastic cover rubbing a hole into the hose, as well as seeping around both ends of the hose. Funny side note. My fuel pump is MUCH quieter now............... This is what happens when we, as a society, begin protecting the intellectually challenged. All we accomplish is getting them to an age at which they can begin reproducing, which they tend to do with great enthusiasm...

Part 2:
Last sunday some asshat backed into my car, rolling the rear fender lip in about 1". Didn't bother to leave a note or take any responsibility for their stupidity. On top of that, the friggin cop acted like I was being unreasonable for making him fill out a report on a hit and run. At least I don't live in Tulsa anymore, as the cops there won't respond to any vehicle accident unless it involves injury, or a city vehicle........ While most times there's no problem with having the fender lip knocked in a little on these cars, my tire/ wheel combo and suspension don't allow for any room to spare. I had just got a new set of RT615's put on 2 days before, so I couldn't even drive the car without cutting the hell out the LR tire, so it had to sit. I borrowed a slide hammer with a hook on the end, and managed to get the fender lip back out enough to *hopefully* prevent any tire rub issue. I'm still left with a scrape that starts just behind the door, and ends near the back of the fender lip, just barely above the bottom of the lip at it's highest point. Not sure how much room there is to get to the backside of the rear quarter panel in order to work that part out. Granted, I was planning to repaint the car in the near future, but aside from one very small ding, about 6" behind the freshly damaged area, it needed zero bodywork. I f'in HATE stupid people!!!!!!!! |

And, no. I'm not a pessimist. I'm a realist who knows how stupid and self-centered the majority of the population has become. Last edited by Rogue_Wulff; 03-15-2010 at 08:56 PM.. |

yep.....we have short circuited natural selection... this can be directly traced in the following manner. rich fuck has worthless kid, kid does something stupid goes to court My son must be innocent cause I be the richest dude around lawyers are invented to protect the worthless offspring of rich people they then reproduce (lawyers and the worthless offspring) darwanism is short circuited. I believe this because if the worthless fuck was poor they would have simply hanged him in the past... a judge simply decided between hanging with new rope, or old rope. Die worthless focks! |
