Default Hello from Atlantic Canada

Just signed up on this forum the other day when I registered for the DGRR.

I've posted in a few DGRR threads over the last few days, but figure I should be polite and introduce my self. (Been on RX7 and RX8 club for years, although not that active from a post-count perspective.)
My first rotary is my 2004 RX8. Always liked RX7s and the rotary fascinated me, and so jumped on board when the RX8 was announced. My car is a first-batch 04 that was pre-ordered in Jan of 03. First RX8 delivered to a customer in Atlantic Canada. A few minor mods, but mostly it's just my summer-driver and toy.

Did a number of HPDEs with it, and decided I wanted something dedicated.
So, the fleet now include an 86 FC that I have been circuit racing with the local club for the last few years. Our rules are a little bit different than in the US, so it doesn't really fit into any US class. (We basically base our rule set on the CASC-OR rules, but class the cars into GTwhatever based on engine size rather than lap times as they do in Ontario.)

The car was originally turned into a race car in 92, raced for a few years, then went into storage for about 10. I bought it in late 2006 and spent a hectic winter refreshing it (upgraded to 5-bolt hubs, stripped and prepped for paint, replaced the shocks and springs, rewired a lot of it and did all the other stuff one would do to get a retired car back on the track.)
Made it through the season, but the engine (it had a 6-port bridge w/ Weber 45 DCOE on it when I got it) had low compression (10 years of sitting, I suppose) so I had a new one built the following winter. S5 4-port, bridge ported with Renesis e-shaft, stationary gears and rotors. Rotors were EDM wire cut to accept RX7 apex seals (Racing Beat Carbon seals) and all the usual upgrades done (Atkins oil jet, MazdaSpeed bearings, Racing Beat oil pressure, thermal pellet etc. etc.) Using a Weber 51IDA, 12A disitrib with dual Mallory 6AL's (one leading, one trailing.)
Car has shown flashes of being quick, but, has continued to break in new and innovative ways (I did mention it was an FC) every time we get it tuned/set up/broken in so haven't really seen what it can do yet. We'll see what this summer brings.
Not a lot of rotary knowledge where I am, so was mostly me, my girlfriend (the girl can tune a Weber and work on a car) and the Internet until a couple of years ago. Met a few other RX7 folks locally, and we've formed a bit of a shared-knowledge co-operative for working on the cars. A couple of them may be coming to DGRR if circumstances allow.

I just typed WAY more introduction than I intended (multi-tasking on a conference call... had to stay awake) but we'll blame that on my friendly-Canadian-ness.
Thanks for having me, and I look forward to meeting some of you next month at the Rally.
