This is my personal opinion..
$18K for 2004 8 with 16K miles is bit on the expensive side. I say this as factory warranty is 8 year 100K. So, you have 1 maybe 2 more year left until factory warranty runs out. If you bought aftermarket warranty, than I would definitely double check if they are reliable as it could later becoming headache to file and such. For 18K, I would think you could pick up 2007 or later model with 30-50K on them... This would give you 3+ more factory warranty and 50+K miles.

i got my 04 rx8 with 15.5k miles and paid 14 it was garage kept at all time the guy owned a body shop and never saw snow
however just do proper "on time" maintenance, don't shut it off cold, and use the entire rev range on a regular basis, change plugs every 15k miles, high octane all the time, and you should be ok. you can premix too but this isn't required if you decide to get ashless smokeless 2cycle (marine 2cycle normally has both of these attributes) and its 1/2 oz per gallon of gas if the car is stock and 1 oz per gallon if you have removed the oild metering pump (OMP).
