looking to buy wheels need correct offset help
http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...ead.php?t=1828
I looked at the above link however I am not great with that kinda stuff so I was hoping someone could guide me in the correct direction... I plan to buy 17" wheels would like to do 8 or 8.5 in the front and 9 or 9.5 in the back... Idea is to get as close to the fender as possible.. looks like the normal size sold is: for fronts 17x8 can get +38 or +48 17x8.5 can get +27 or +30 or +37 for rears 17x9 can get +24 or +35 or +45 17x9.5 can get only + 35 so which should I use to get the most wheel down, get the wheels as flush as possible.. I don't want to roll the exterior of the fenders,, Dont mind rolling the inner lip if need be.. any help would be nice... car is 86 rx7 5lug swap |

oh.. I know nothing about inside clearance on non coilovers. In back you can run up to 275 with fender roll (no pull). 255 is the safe bet.
235 up front will fit the fender, but i cant speak for the strut.

The Tanabe GF210 springs are bigger diameter than stock, so it eats away clearances in the inside (up front).
I don't think any of the listed wheels sizes will fit with a 225 wide tire up front. The 8.5", +27 is your best bet, but you might have to drop down to a 215 wide tires to fit under stock fenders, no rolling. With an 8.0" wide wheel and stock springs (clearances), a +30 is perfect. With the bigger Tanabe GF210's, I wouldn't go more than a +25 on a 8.0". You only mention the 8.5", +27, so that's half inch more width (than the 8.0"), and 2mm pushed in more...way too tight in my book. -Ted |

I could do a 8" wide front wheel and 9" wide rear wheel however then the offests are
8" front either +38 or +48 9" rear either +24 or +35 or +45 I'm just trying to find the best tire rim combo fir my car.. I want it to be as "fit" as I can.. I really don't want to do much modifying.. if its a little inside.. ok a little outside ok.. flush even better.. thx to everyone for info.. any more info is even better Last edited by FlybyRE; 01-11-2010 at 08:35 PM.. |

No I did read your reply ted.. I guess I just still don't know exactly what wheel/tire to run I guess in the front because with the wheels I am looking to get I can only get either
17" 8" wide in +38 or +48 Or 17" 8.5" wide in +27, +30 or +37 I wanna do 9.5 in the back if possible but I would be happy with 9" in the back. |

FWIW I have a set of rims for sale. I used them while I was on the stock style spring/shock combo. I can get you pictures of how flush they sat (VERY) but I cannot get you pics of how close they sat to the spring/shock, I can tell you though that they were tight. Rims are TRM Typhoons that are one piece forge cast by Kosei but marketed buy Tire Rack Motorsports (TRM) Sizes are 17x8 +38 R and 17x7+35 F. Tires are 215/40 & 235/45 Yoko A520's with ALOT of tread left over. The wheels are incredibly light, something like 17 or 18 lbs and the tires are awesome. They were going to be my track rim becuase of the weight/strength but now that I'm running C/O's, I went with something else that I got a killer deal on. Post up if you're interested, price for them is awesome and there really isn't a much lighter/better looking rim out there and like I said, I don't need them anymore, taking up space, and the price will reflect that. -B

So r u telling me with my suspension setup I can run
17" 7" +35 with 215ls in the front And 17" 8" +38 with 235' in the rear If that is correct I would love to see pics of how yours were... I just want them to be flush guys.. they don't have to be that wide.. seriously... My problem is the narrowest wheel they sell is a 7.5 and it has a +46 offset Thx again for the replys.. I guess I just figured that I had more room back there then I do Last edited by FlybyRE; 01-13-2010 at 02:40 PM.. |

There's a little more room in the back to be had, not much though. The problem you have is the larger than stock style springs.... I would be curious as to how large larger than stock is. These guys were tight if I remember correctly but did fit and fit flush.... here's a few pics - PM me if you're intersted and I'll fill you in on the price. You're in luck, I was about to post them up here today as well as the evil forum and fleebay, so if you're interested, you got first dibs. Wheels, tires, lugs, special lug tool, and hubcentric adapters as well all for less than 1/2 what I paid
The two most recent pics I can show you of the wheels on the car Last one gives you a good idea of how flush they really do sit.
