Lots of fuel in oil
Hey everyone,
I am having a issue with my engine. A quick run down as to what is inside the engine. It is a Half Bridge FD irons, and Pineapple racing template for a Bridge on the exhaust.FD housings, with S4 T2 rotors and e-shaft.weight etc.. Atkins seals(all hard seals and Oil ring o'rings) My issue is that whenever I run the car, my oil becomes very overfilled with fuel. My catchcan fills up and starts spewing everywhere. I don't have any real hard #'s as to how much and how long it takes to happen. Mostly bacause I can't make myself drive it with oil that is being assaulted that hard and fast. I actually have not hit boost because I know something aint right Has anyone had this issue before? I have pulled my fuel system and checked it off the car for a sticking injector. no luck. Could a sticking side seal cause this much fuel blowby? I had one seal that was sticky when building the rotors. I managed to get it working properly but the thought is in the back of my head. Could I have gone too big on my intake porting to cause this? ( This was my first time porting, so I very well may have fugged it up) I know I am going to have to tear it open and look eventually, just been trying to think of anything"external" that may cause this. 550 Primaries 1300 secondaries PFC tuned for my previous 62-1 stock port single set-up. Never had an issue before. Porting is the only "big" change. But I can't figure how the fuel is getting into the oil unless I have a stuck seal allowing it to wash by.
I am really thinking I did something to my primary ports. I am getting a replacement center iron( at least) and tearing it open in a month or so. Any ideas for what to look for are appreciated. Dave |

No, I thought of that and hoped it was that easy. It wasn't I have a new center iron coming to me and that will receive a mild porting.( I went to crazy with the current one I think.) Also I need to have a ton of fuel pulled from my the cruise ranges I believe. I have seen a few other threads over on the other board regarding the same issue with HB engines.
In the next few months I plan on getting a wideband in the car, attaining the PFC software for tuning, and attend the first section of EFI 101 tuning class. Dave |

If you really suspect a stuck side seal I think a compression test might give you a clue. One low face would indicate a side seal issue, two low faces a bad apex seal. Do you remember which rotor had the suspect seal? Could you try "steam cleaning" to try to unstick? I would think a large primary port could decrease vacuum and perhaps make for harder starting but I don't see how it would contribute to fuel in your oil.
I too had fuel in my oil but I believe it was due to flooding the engine twice. If it isn't a leaky injector (I pulled my rails and turned the pump on - no drips), checked the FPR vac line, then I don't know of any other external paths for fuel to enter the crankcase. |
