Default BNR Supercars Hybrid Greddy Turbocharger Upgrade!

Whats up RX8 people!

I have been working on a hybrid turbo upgrade for the existing Greddy turbocharger for the RX8. There are 2 options. One that will make up to 315 RWHP or another one that is good for around 360 RWHP. All 100% bolt up with no fabrication involved!

Not only is the turbo upgraded, it comes with a water cooled center section so you will improve the lifespan of the turbos drastically! We throw in the line kits with the turbo so there is little to no hastle fitting them into the RX8.

This is what you get with the BNR Hybrid:
  • upgraded 360 thrust kit for ultra high boost applications
  • upgraded compressor wheel (49 lb/min or 58 lb/min)
  • custom machined Greddy compressor housing
  • clipped turbine wheel
  • ported wastegate
  • ported volute
  • Dynamic balanced to .5 gram/in2 or less
  • All new center housing rotating assembly
  • water cooled center housing
  • water cool kit
  • 1 year warranty

The turbocharger comes ready to reinstall. All you will need a coolant source! It will save you time and money down the road and you will KNOW that the job was done right!

Cost is $965 and it doesn't require a buildable core! So if your turbo is trashed, don't worry about a thing...

Thats a pretty sweet deal.

Do you have any specs on the powerband for this turbo? When I had the GReddy on my other 8 it had all kinds of issues after 6800RPM. Wastegate was a joke and wouldn't hold consistent boost to save its life. It fluctuated at 3psi to 7psi after 7K RPM and peaked 8.5psi at 6800. So my tune was pretty rich after 6500 for safety's sake.

If you've solved some of the wastegate issues and made the turbo come alive a WEE bit sooner, I would consider doing this kit again.... I just want 9psi all the way to 9k, lol...

The larger turbo will act differently than that little 18G compressor. So I am guessing the kit base boost fluctuates between 3-7 psi and creeps to 8.5 up at the top of the RPM Band. Really what you should do is put a boost controller on the car and turn up the boost to 8.5 and see if it holds. Your problem may have been boost creep.

It had an electronic boost controller and it worked fairly well. It just seemed as though once it got high enough in the RPM the WG on the stock greddy kit setup wasn't holding. It would hit peak boost at 6800 and then fall and then flucuate, but never hitting the 8.5psi again.

its odd... I dont want to junk up your thread with my old car's issues, lol - I dont even have it anymore, back to an NA 8 now

Still sounds like you've got a decent setup though...

BTW - the water lines are a snap!

Just tap the throttle body coolant lines; problem solved.

Wish you had this offered when I was shopping for a new turbo.

I also think that the 18g is so small, there isn't enough volume coming out of the turbo to feed the engine what it wants so the boost drops and isn't stable.

This is true - the 18G has been proven to have some serious fall off above 6500-7000RPMS
