Default GURUS needed. . Do I have a switch problem?

Copy and pasted from my WTB thread: "I attempted to repair my switch but was left with less than desirable results, even after replacing both relays I still had the same issue. I tried another switch a friend had but it didn't function properly either and it was broke anyway so that was a no-go. Would be great if it's a known good switch since I'm not entirely sure if the switch was the root cause. Lastly, if I have a choice I would like a non rear wiper switch but let me know what you have regardless please."

The issue I'm having is the momentary and first or second speed (I think, can't remember for sure) function stopped working. To make the issue even worse is the wipers wont return to their home position, I would have to toggle the mist function of the switch till I got them close to home or else they'd more than likely stop in the middle of the windshield.

My question is, am I targeting the wrong part? Is there anything else that could cause the problems above, like the motor assembly for example? I ask this because I find it odd that two different switches gave me the same results even after my original was rebuilt with two new relays (by me) and the other switch that I borrowed from my friend was obviously repaired with a new relay (switch housing was cut to gain access to relay rather than desoldering the board).

Thanks in advance!

Regardless, I still need a switch because I completely demolished mine in a fit of rage since it didn't work after repairing it (patience was worn thin), the other was broke anyways so I gave it back to the friend.

If you have one available the link is above, thanks.

I've been known to do that. Never ends well.

Checked MazdaTrix. They have them, but yikes! That's a lot of money just for a switch. The switch with the rear wiper is almost double that!

Flea bay usually has some for 100 150. I forget the guy who rebuilds them. But I have one of his. I will dig through my spares and see if I have one. Might just be good for a core at best.

Oh and yes the switch is more than likely the culprit. If it looses the intermittent speed it's the first relay. Everything else is the second.

Holy crap! $383.49! I'd rather take my chances with used parts.

Still seems like it's something wrong with the switch. I assume you replaced the relays per one of the many how-to's? I destroyed my first switch attempting to do the same. I ended up pulling the little copper sleeves out of the circuit board.

See my reply in your WTB thread. I have a rear-wiperless switch from a 86 that's not been confirmed to work but I don't need it.

That what I was thinking. Yeah I used the how-to from fc3spro.com

I was worried I may have done this since it's not uncommon and I've done it plenty of times at work. I was really careful, paying close attention not to but I may have. .

My switch came in from infernosg and the wipers now function as they should and return to the home position but only for one setting (1st speed). Glad it was nothing else, thanks for the help once again!
