Here is a good example why NITRATE is a must for your side irons if lapped or surface ground .
In these pics you will se a side iron that has been lapped/surface ground without nitrate. It only has 1500 miles. Look at the extreme wear on the surface. It has the same surface wear as a 100k mile side iron. If you Lapp/ surface grind your plates???
