				Valvoline VR1 ??

I have been running Valvoline VR1 racing oil in my other race cars because it has the extra zinc(etc) to protect the valve train during racing abuse. So what should I use? I run 50 wt during the summer and 20-50 during the winter months in SoCal. |

+1 on Castrol 50 wt. Its worked for me for years now. Not racing mind you, but running to redline often enough.

I go with Royal Purple myself, but I have never seriously raced, and it is primarily on my daily driver rotaries.

From what I've read Royal Purple is waaay overpriced. But it's not common in Aus yet. I was running penrite oil previously but my mate swears by the castrol GTX so it's probably what I'll run in the new engine.

It is just slightly more expensive than Mobil 1 in this area. I didn't take into consideration location.
