Valvoline VR1 ??
I have been running Valvoline VR1 racing oil in my other race cars because it has the extra zinc(etc) to protect the valve train during racing abuse. So what should I use?
I run 50 wt during the summer and 20-50 during the winter months in SoCal. |
I have used Castrol GTX 20/50 year round with no oil related issues since '92 when I began driving rotary's

+1 on Castrol 50 wt. Its worked for me for years now. Not racing mind you, but
running to redline often enough. |
I go with Royal Purple myself, but I have never seriously raced, and it is primarily on my daily driver rotaries.
|
From what I've read Royal Purple is waaay overpriced. But it's not common in Aus yet. I was running penrite oil previously but my mate swears by the castrol GTX so it's probably what I'll run in the new engine.

I have ran vr1 20w50 and st50 for years in my dd and exclusively ran 50w in our race cars.
