Help making custom oil lines for turbo
So, I am scratching my head a little here. I have been searching around for info on how to build, or flat out purchase oil feed/return lines for my 12a turbo project.
Keep in mind, I am NOT using a 13B, and do not have the factory lines at all. I will get my feed source from my RE-Speed pedestal, return will go to the front cover, in the same place as a stock TII (front cover drilled and tapped). I am using a stock S4 turbo. Any info/parts list would be greatly appreciated. This is the last piece of my puzzle. Please keep in mind I am a cheap bastard, and this is a test project. Not looking to spend a fortune on this

ATP turbo or Verocious Motorsports or someplace like that will have the fitting you need to bolt to the bottom of the turbo for the drain. Then it's just a matter of building a -10 line.
The feed might be a little more difficult. I can't remember if there's an 1/8" npt fitting under there or not, that would be easiest. Otherwise you might need to get a hydraulic shop to silver solder a -4 fitting onto the inlet and run that to your pedastal. Instead of drilling and tapping the front cover, I would weld a bung onto the front cover instead of tapping it, the AL is a little thin.

The RE Speed pedestal has 2 1/8 fittings on it.
I should have been more clear on the front cover. I am drilling out the hole for the return, and drilling and tapping the two holes for either the stock return fitting, or a T4 flange I am told will work just as well. I am new to all this fitting lingo. It somehow is confusing to me. Also, will I need a restrictor pill for the feed line?

IIRC the restrictor is made into the stock turbo... no other restrictor necessary.

This is what I did, laugh if you want, it works and Lowes is my friend.
These are faucet lines with fittings from the pluming section. Maybe cost me a total of $35. Feed line. Coming from the oil pedestal. S4 13b hi-comp w/T04 series turbo.

Reason I ask is I'm finding a pretty significant amount of clean oil accumulating inside of my IC and IC piping (stock IC) over a short period of time, which leads me to think my turbo is getting too much oil. The turbo is BNR Stage 1 rebuild/hybrid mod setup, that was done in Feb '11, so I assume the turbo is OK. |

So my faucet oil line has failed, not really bad, but it just started leaking.
It did withstand a little over a 1000 miles of beating on it and made it to Deals Gap and back. Today I replaced it with fuel hose for now. Maybe someday ill make proper SS oil lines with AN fittings.

DJ, we do have a local place. Have you tried Patco? I had a brake line made there for my Kawi when I used a different year swingarm, it wasn't too expensive either. Try them, they have fittings too.

Hydraulic shops are amazing. Just bring the turbo and the a stockish type oil line. I had a shop solder a -6 line onto the twins hardline. Then a -6 to -4 adapter and built the softline myself

I don't know why I forgot about Patco.
I'll try to stop by there sometime this week.

Yeah I was there not too long ago and had them make me a clutch line for a motor swap. They put on swivel fittings and gave me extra fittings just in case to complete the job.
