M2 Turbos
First off i have searched on both forums and cant find anything. Can someone tell me about the M2 Turbos for the FD. i really don't know anything about them and have a chance to buy a set. I know M2 is known for good quality but i didn't even know they made a replacement twin. Are they a big improvement over stock, are they a direct bolt in replacement, and can you find parts to rebuild them if needed? Lastly is M2 in business anymore and if so how can i reach them. thanks for any help.

The M2 company that I'm familiar with went out of business some years back. I knew them for some FD performance products...downpipes, air-boxes, intercoolers etc., but not for turbos.
FWIW, I think the most popular alternative for owners wanting to stay with the twin set-up (sequential or non-sequential) is BNR. They do require an Efini 'Y' pipe that's modified by BNR. http://www.bnrturbos.com/3rdGen.htm

The M2's were ball bearing if I remember correctly. They were an improvement over stock, but I don't think anyone ever really pushed them that hard. Fritz has had his hands on a couple of sets of the years. You might PM him and see what he thinks of them.
As far as the BNR's, they do require a y pipe modification(which Bryan does and is included in the price of the turbo's) for the newer version, but it does not have to be an efini y pipe. It can be a stock y pipe as well.

I guess it all really depends on your intercooler set up. M2's intercooler, for instance, has the pipe that works with the stock 93-95 y-pipe. I'm sure it wouldn't be to difficult to cut the flange off and weld it to M2's pipe to have a bolt on design. You are right though, couplers are more prone to popping off and leaking boost.

I had a customer that ran them a few years ago. I don't remember what power numbers he put down, but he was disappointed. Shortly after he went with a single turbo setup. I think the main benefit was for those who need to pass visual inspection such as in California.
